All we require is a will to take an initiative

A city where millions come to realize their dreams, Mumbai technically acts as a mother to all of them. Theoretically, if we break down the name of the city, it means mother too; 'Mum' an English word means mother and so does the Marathi word "bai". Hence, we can safely conclude that Mumbai is a female figure. But is the female populace in this metropolis safe? According to the statistics, Mumbai is the safest city in India. Still, the pages of the daily newspaper is filled with all sort of wrong-doing against women! Yes, I agree Mumbai's women related crime-rate is lower than other townships in India but it still is not completely safe for women here. Being called names, passed lewd comments at and touched in a wrong manner are few of the misdeeds that females here have to go through on a daily basis! I don't blame this city, I can't as I am a born and bought up Mumbaikar who has considered this metro home  since the time I opened my eyes, sixte...

Hope, it's with you I sail...

I just discovered that I haven't written anything from past two weeks, yikes! This time around I'm not asking you guys to blame my absence on any factor. It is studies that I am busy with; December is already in its prime and in just a month my finals will kick-start itself, so these days I'm busy completing journals and assignments. Plus lately, as I'm devoting more time to activities which exclude blogging, I find myself running out of stuff to blog about. Yes, being a personal blogger is kind-of dicey- unlike Fashion, Food or Tech bloggers, personal bloggers don't have a particular genre to write on (except ourselves, which sometimes gets creepy). Amid all this last-moment chaos, what actually helps me sail through is "Hope". Yeah people, hope is what keeps a person sane during really daunting times. If you are an Indian student you will surely agree with me, with the fact that, the year when you are supposed to give your Board examinations is the ...

"Explore the world while you still can"

"Hey how about going to the museum?" asked I in an enthusiastic tone to a college buddy, "No, I am willing to spend my time at home" came back the reply, "C'mon it's just 2'o clock!" I said trying to get her interested into the scheme, and then the usual excuse was employed by her that lead to the end of the conversation: "I have a test tomorrow, in classes". Well, this is what usually happens with me, or for that matter of fact, with every enthusiastic person out there who is willing to explore the world around with some company. Yes it is true that nothing is as sweet than Home, a place where we sleep and can freely express ourselves in any sort of way (Yes, I'm referring to that Housing loan advertisement here). But again, the creator of this world or maybe nature, has created a natural habit for us called fondly as "Planet Earth" and we Humans created a four-walled box which we prefer calling as 'home' ...

One year down and still on!

So it was my birthday last Sunday (11/11/2012) and I'm updating about it today, after a week to be exact! I'm no longer employing my procrastination as a reason, just lack of some motivation. You know how these vacations are; you have time and that's why you tend to procrastinate, and the problem with working days is; you don't have time still you want to write! Now back to the birthday update thing, this birthday of mine wasn't exactly my best birthday ever but at the same time it didn't turn out to be the worst. No nothing bad happened, despite of that I didn't feel the 'happy-happy' Birthday spirit this time around. Everyone was joyous that day, tonnes of wishes for the day pouring in at every moment, yet I felt that the day wasn't an exception, just like a normal Sunday day to be precise. As this time around my birthday happened to be on a Sunday, I tried to turn the weekend into a 'Birthday weekend' by starting doing things that a...

To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton . The theme for the month is 'An Untold Story') **** The Untold Story   Hey listen up miss I have a thing to say, that one day this beauty of your's will fade away, and then with it will vanish your arrogance, at that point nothing shall remain, but good deeds that would be an epitome of your beauty. Hey listen up miss I have a thing to say, that one day along with your beauty will subside your youth, and then in vain will go your attempts at revival, you won't have the zeal, but good memories to cherish from your carefree days. Hey listen up miss I have a thing to say, that one day you will reflect back on your life, and think that why did you held onto the grudges, they did no good to you, but ruined your days b...

Life Lesson: Be optimistic, always!

Woah, it has been too long since I wrote! I'm super sorry about that fact, actually I was busy finishing up the book about which I talked in my last post. Updates? Okay, even after devoting a good slice of my free time into reading it, I have managed to complete only 3/4th of the book. I hope it gets done by the next week. Anyways, I have something to share, a story and it goes like this... "A milkman, deeply influenced by Gautama Buddha insisted that Buddha visit him and share his nuggets of wisdom. In lieu of this, this milkman offered to present milk to Buddha. Buddha agreed. In the evening when Buddha set out to visit the milkman, he took with a the container in which he intentionally put some mud. The milkman took the container but just as he was about to pour milk into it, he realized that the container had some impurity in it. So he cleansed it and removed all the impurities. He then Poured the milk into it and gave it to the Buddha. Upon receiving the container,...

Yet the Stereotyping saga continues...

Well, you can blame my sudden invisibility on this newly acquired habit of slacking off stuff. You can possible estimate this from the way I'm slacking off studying for my test tomorrow. Anyways, I currently am reading a book; Such a Long Journey by Rohinton Mistry. And the worst thing? I have turned so lazy that all I do is sleep in my free time. Hence, a person who usually finishes a good 500pages novel in a week's time is still on the 71th page. I hope this habit turns out to be a temporary one and I get done with it as soon as my exams are over. Nevertheless, after I took a short quiz on the internet a question has been floating in my mind: Am I an introvert or an extrovert? According to the pointers, which were mentioned in a corner to help people make a correct choice, an introvert is a one who likes solitary activities and prefers to be alone most of the time whereas an extrovert is outgoing and adventurous. Frankly, I struggled to chose an option. Yeah, you know I am...

Life is all about learning, isn't it?

#1. Do not let an opportunity pass by When I was around 11years old,  I read a story in Tinkle; about a boy who always complaint that life is mean to him, that he didn't get any chance to prove his mettle and worth but actually, he never utilized the opportunity life always present before him. The point I'm trying to make here is, don't turn a blind-eye to a chance! Because some are once-in-a-lifetime kinda and you can't do anything except agonize after it has slipped away from your clutches. So take my advice folks, grab the opportunities that you come across. #2. It's okay to attempt something by yourself Sometimes what interests you might not tempt your friends or companions, you might be super-keen onto doing it but they might not even give a damn about it! Here, just because your friends aren't there to back you shouldn't mean that you need to give upon the thing you have your heart set on. I learnt this on Saturday; I desperately wanted to attend M...

Lets root for a healthy marriage over love or arranged!

Image
"So you guys even started thinking about marrying?", I questioned to a well-acquainted classmate. She replied by saying nothing but smiled and blushed a bit. My curiosity lead me to ask her whether her parents know about her affair, and she said "Not parents but sisters know". I tried to be non-judgement at that point. Again in the train that day, while returning home, I came across myriad tales of "how-we-met" from a group of young women sitting adjacent. After getting home, I switched on the television and was again bombarded young couples in love. Today, love marriage which was a way forbidden some 20years ago is embraced with both the arms stretched wide. On this, some say that India too is surging ahead on the path laid down by our western-counterparts and favoring love marriages as opposed to our 'traditional' system of arrange marriages. But I beg to differ on this theory (Okay, I have a full-fledged 'marriage in India' timeline u...

The winner in you just got discovered!

I know it has been too long since, I wrote something sensible. This academic year is the one whom you should blame this time, not me, because even though I'm willing to write, a mountain of college-work stands tall in front of me! Yep, I'm in a good mood today, the reason being; unexpected extensions. Okay, this needs to be explained in detail now: Well, last week a project on rainwater harvesting, an assignment from Accounts and preparation of an  advertising script (along with miscellaneous homework) was bombarded on me as well as on my classmates. And we were supposed to submit all these by tomorrow i.e. this week's Friday. You guys are pretty much aware of my deadly habit of procrastination, hence, I kept putting off stuff and eventually, I realized the trouble which I had knowingly invited onto me. Thus, this week was dead tiring! It's a miracle in itself that how did I make through (Man, I just get Sunday off in a week!). Overall, I understood the importance...

V-day: A small message to the masses

Image
It's the Valentine's Day today, just another reason for people to celebrate! Okay, I'm not criticizing it, not at all. But I'm criticizing the hype people have made out of it, can this day be left as a day meant for celebrating Love and companionship rather than going over-the-board just to show-off? Isn't the day meant for people to take pride in their 'in a relationship' status? Nobody wants to be left isolated on this day, watching other couples rejoice, but does that means forcing yourselves into a relationship? Yeah, the previous question I asked may sound bizarre but it's a truth. Many people today, just because they don't want to be left out on this day force themselves into a relationship; how kiddish and insane is that! Previously, I have written these two posts which confines itself within the boundaries of love and plays around with this very topic: Shakespeare and Love at first sight and The most exploited word "Love" . In b...

Respect a Woman deserves

Why does everything has to be so complicated? Can't I just sail my way through things without getting bogged by stuff which is certainly pointless and unnecessary? Is this my fault that I am a girl? No, the problem I am facing is not at all concerned with my gender but this gender's weaknesses! In my family, my parents and everyone else i.e. my relatives always treated me at par with the guys in my family, I never ever faced a gender issue. In school too, I basically never felt that girls are treated any less good than boys because the sport which the "Society" considers to be male dominated was open for girls to play too and hence, I got to showcase my sporting talent and am still remember in my school for that (Yeah, I came to know from a current student that my name has been put up on the Honor roll in the Sports room of my school as, I represented my School in Football but at the same time fetched 90.73% in my Board Examinations, a feat that any other sports pers...

And that's why I hate to say "Good-byes"

Image
Note: I didn't meant to write a romantic-type post, but somehow it turned up this way! So, please forgive if you find this post over-exaggerated and over romanticized. 2012 is sprinting towards us and we people are in our top form with our drinks ready to be served and dancing shoes on, ready to embrace the New Year which will be upon us in a few days already bidding a roaring farewell to the year 2011, which has now become a yearly routine! And that brings me to my topic of "Good Byes", a word which I hate to the T. Just think of a common scenario; You are actually enjoying someone's company, having a mindful conversation and all of sudden when reach your destination or if it's getting late (ah, its obvious you can't be talking or be with someone 24/7!) you part away and the only pair of words that lingers around is a Good Bye. Or think of a nice Vacation on some exotic locale, at the end you have to say "Good Bye" to that place. This is the fact...
