Photo Diary: Banganga Tank, Mumbai

Image
Nestled amidst the high rises in the posh locality of Malabar Hill, lies an oasis of calm and tranquil which instantly transports one to the holy ghats at Varanasi. Yes, I am talking about Banganga Tank. You see, vacation makes me do crazy things; I have been digging up the photo albums on my computer all day today. And that is when I came across the pictures I clicked when I went on a photo walk to Banganga Tank last summer. Time surely does fly by! Anyway, the point I am trying to make here is that there are several gems in Mumbai (I prefer Bombay, honestly). Every little pocket in this city has the power to induce the feel of some faraway land, no kidding. Banganga Tank happens to be one of those gems- perfect to spend an evening at.  Stepping down the steps leading to the tank is where the journey begins- the rustic and unshapely steps flanked by narrow lanes and tiny temples on both the side is enough to make you feel that you are no longer in the hustling and bu...

On My Playlist: Feist & The Last Shadow Puppets

If you have begun wondering about my whereabouts, I do not blame you. I have been missing for quite sometime now. The decline in frequency is not because of my falling interest in blogging (heck no, I love it!), but mostly because of the blog-o-sphere (aye, it is a legit word) becoming highly commercialized. Yes, when you are putting in efforts, you should be getting returns too; but these days, most of the bloggers write only  sponsored posts. It is a major put-off! In other news, my vacations have kicked in with full force. I have been listening to some great music and watching  binge-watching television series (Game Of Thrones, finally!). And today I am writing with the intention to share two tunes which have been constantly stuck in my head... Idle browsing through Instagram can be wondrous sometimes, and sometimes it can unwittingly introduce you to new music. My chancing upon this song is a direct evidence of 'em Instagram sessions. The road tripping saga

So I came across a contest regarding one's "dream" road trip a few days back. Being an adventure junkie and a part-time rover, all of sudden it struck me that I haven't been on a road trip in my life yet. And with it I started wondering how cruel has this life been to me (Ha, I have just exaggerated this line). But it turns out I have road-tripped once, a proper road trip! I suddenly got reminded of it while taking in the scenery of the stretch between Goregaon and Jogeshwari, while travelling to college this morning. The tales goes back to a few years (four years, to be exact), to the summer before I started my ninth grade; plans were made on an impulse to visit my native place for a family function. Everything was done on the last moment, from booking train tickets to packing for the trip. On the day we were supposed to board the train that would ferry us from Mumbai to Patna, after reaching the station, it turned out that the train was running late by 5 hours! A...

So you think you can limit my love for Marine Drive?

Image
"Serenity is not peace after the storm has passes, but peace within the storm itself". This is the feeling you (or should I say I?) get whilst at Marine Drive. Yes, I went there today after a few months and I gotta admit folks; the more you try to suppress your love, the more it ends up engulfing you. "Love", a word which in today's era you hear 100s of times in a day. What is it? Who first got this feeling? How? Why this world has gone gaga over this simple four-lettered-word? Blah, I'm getting mushy again! Hmm, so where was I? Yeah, Marine Drive! I have already criticized Indian summers beforehand; how unsuitable they are for taking a trip somewhere. And me, being a person who loves to walk a lot when discovering new places, I hate the summers because of this wrath. But today's day was a bit different... It was 11.00am in the morning and I was fast asleep, the annoying 'Nokia Tune' woke me up from my deep slumber. It was a call from ...

Summer? I hate it!

They say, every cloud has a silver-lining, then why can't I find the door to walk out of this mess which I affectionately call 'Vacation Boredom'? Every summer these come upon me as a catastrophe and leaves me uninspired for days (or should I say till the end of its term?). Every morning I resolve to do an activity which would erase the sense of dullness that creeps onto me during holidays, but as the monotony of the day starts lurking around the corner I unconsciously give up. Here in Mumbai, as this season comes into its ripe, the sun metaphorically bakes the public with its scorching heat. Hence, there is no scope left for enjoying outdoor action. Trapped into the confines of my apartment I can't think of a better alternative to browsing mindlessly on the internet through random stuff or scan through channels on my television hoping to spot something of my preference. At these moments, even a proposal of shopping for groceries put forth by mom seems lucrative e...
