A day to remember....

Image
Saturday happens to be my most favourite day of the week; mainly because it has got a fine balance of work and play, and also the day which proceeds it is Sunday. Everyone's idea of a perfect day varies, and in my case, it depends upon my situation and mood. Last week, due to the forthcoming Board exams, I had started to feel quite bored and fed up from the everyday monotony. All I needed was a good break, with people around! Hence, when a blogger's meet was announced, I didn't let the opportunity pass by. Meeting like minded-bloggers, singing a medley of my favourite metal and rock songs on the top of my voice, getting tonnes of pictures taken, and a lot more was what I did last Saturday. And the entire credit for my awesome Saturday goes to the one and only, Indiblogger who in association with HP and Otto Infinito, a Mediterranean restaurant, organized the HP connected music meet on Saturday, 16th February 2013. About Indimeets, one can never say; "Been there,...

When the mirage of perfection distorts...

"Life has always been in your favour..." that's what Tanya's childhood friend tells her. But no one knows what awaits her in London, where she been offered a job. Once in London, a strange encounter with an even stranger guy Adrian, who has a phobia of "marriage", adds a new chapter to her life. A string of events occur between them and ultimately, they both fall for each other. But fate has something else planned for them- Recession hits London which leads to people being sacked everywhere, and unfortunately Tanya happens to be  one of them. This is where the sly life starts showing its true colors to Tanya; she is served an ultimatum that she needs to get herself a job within a month or else she'll have to move back to India, where an arranged marriage awaits her. The only way she could think of to stay in London, in a dwindling economy, is to convince Adrian, her marriage-phobic boyfriend to marry her. Thus, Adrian either has to confront his phobi...

The long lost Childhood

She looked to the left then to the right, when suddenly my gaze met her sight. She pointed towards something and giggled, and I felt as if my childhood had returned. The pure feeling of joy radiating from her face, took me back to the time where there was no race. The time when kids were kids and were free to explore, but now they don't even have time to listen to a lore. It pains me to see how childhood is wasted these days, as it has become a ritual for parents to restrict a child's ways. For once upon a time childhood was all about discovering, today its just a phase where the kids are forced to do rote learning. **** Any thoughts? Suggestion and criticism welcomed. (This is my entry for the #SoakNoMore contest organized by Indiblogger .)

Lets root for a healthy marriage over love or arranged!

"So you guys even started thinking about marrying?", I questioned to a well-acquainted classmate. She replied by saying nothing but smiled and blushed a bit. My curiosity lead me to ask her whether her parents know about her affair, and she said "Not parents but sisters know". I tried to be non-judgement at that point. Again in the train that day, while returning home, I came across myriad tales of "how-we-met" from a group of young women sitting adjacent. After getting home, I switched on the television and was again bombarded young couples in love. Today, love marriage which was a way forbidden some 20years ago is embraced with both the arms stretched wide. On this, some say that India too is surging ahead on the path laid down by our western-counterparts and favoring love marriages as opposed to our 'traditional' system of arrange marriages. But I beg to differ on this theory (Okay, I have a full-fledged 'marriage in India' timeline u...

An event of lifetime: Bloggers meet at Trident, BKC

Image
Alright, before I start narrating the awesomeness this day brought along; I'd love to thank IndiBlogger for organizing Stayfree Women's for change meet in association with Stayfree India and UNICEF from the bottom of my heart. Moreover, I'm already looking forward to my next meet. I read somewhere on the internet "Don't be timid or squeamish about your actions, whole life is about experimenting with new things", and the moment I learned about a Blogger's meet happening in my hometown Mumbai, I knew I must attend the event. The fact that the venue of the meet was Trident Hotel, Bandra helped my case immensely (You know my college is in Bandra itself, so I happen to be quiet acquaint with Bandra. Hence, convincing my parents wasn't a pain). The day started with a high note; a late-to-rise person, I sprang upright as soon as the alarm's ring hit my ears. Not anticipating or expecting anything extraordinary I started prepping up myself from the d...

Children of the same womb but divided by States- Time to change

Image
Just yesterday I landed upon an article on Time Of India website mentioning a claim by the Chief minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar which clearly comes off as a political gimmick to garner votes. I didn't take that article too serious and scrolled down the page to see the comments made by the masses on that article. To my horror, what I came across stunned me; People were disgracing Biharis and talked about throwing them out of their respective states! What made it worse was it were 'educated' people who talked such rubbish.  As mentioned in the constitution of India; India is a secular country granting the freedom of movement to it's citizens. But the way in which my country fellows were bad mouthing their own countrymen made me furious. Racism prevailing towards Indians in another nation can be understood, however, racism amongst Indians itself is a fact which actually makes me ashamed of my country and that too just because of some stupid politician's politic...
