Tidbits from a Camping Trip

Image
Wow, it has been long, eh? I know, I promised that I'd be writing regularly but no points for guessing that it never materialized. I have a lot to say, yet again; from some shattering revelations to a lovely camping experience at the start of the year itself. I shall save the revelations for the next time and tell you more about the camping part. Well, it was a first; first time camping, first time being away from home for seven days (starting from the first day of February)! Honestly, before the trip I was skeptical that I might get home-sick in a few days (well, that's what happened on my last trip away from home which was for a few days) but surprisingly I didn't feel like coming back home this time! My time there at the camp was crazy, right from the day one. For this, all the credit must go to our former NSS leaders; it were their out-of-the-box ideas and go-for-it attitude that helped the campers break out of their shell and embrace whatever the seven days brough...

Street Photography - II

Image
I have been experimenting lately, with street photography. And as I just shoot with a point and shoot camera (Canon SX150 IS) on Aperture priority or Shutter priority, and without any device to achieve a blurred background, I am trying to incorporate other moving things to give the background a slight blur. You must have seen that in the previous blog post's picture "Anticipation". Here is an extension of that concept with more objects in the frame. Feedback and criticism would be appreciated. Thanks. "Frozen" taken at Fort, Mumbai. ***** Disclaimer: The picture used here is the copyrighted property of Aditi Pathak. Life is what we make of it

After a long wait, I bought a camera yesterday. And to test it, I was all up for an adventure today. Yes, I had one too and that involved travelling for 4.5 hours approximately, but all I realize is; I wasted that opportunity. How, you would wonder? Well, the story goes like this.... "A me, after a day out crashed on the sofa to watch reruns of one of her favourite shows, One Tree Hill. This day's rerun had that episode where Brook Davis realizes that the carefree-phase of a person's life is short-lived and is soon replaced by the responsibility-shouldering adult life. She skips an opportunity of getting her designer label showcased and instead goes to attends her last cheer-leading tournament, which she enjoys to the fullest. Discontent with the day's event, I quickly absorbed that message in and started analyzing: Why didn't I enjoy to my fullest? Soon I got the answer to this nagging question and that is; I was busy clicking, so busy that I didn't even s...

Guidelines for a better 2013

Image
It has been quite a long time since I wrote anything sensible. Now-a-days my post usually describe "What-I-did". This time, unlike 2011, I didn't do a wrap up post for the year 2012 because of two reasons- First, I was sick last week and second, everything is already documented here by the way of blog-posts, so I felt no need to write an another post describing my 2012. But this doesn't mean I'm not grateful for the lovely year; 2012 happens to be among the best years of my life (well, you can certainly figure out by the stuff I did last year!). Today is the first day of new year 2013 and rather than reviving the glorious 2012, I want to remind myself of a few guidelines that helped me enjoy the past year completely: #1. Day-dream and make realistic plans   Unless you dream of something, you won't think of making that thing happen! But again, dreaming of unrealistic things will get you nowhere. To be frank, I day-dreamed of being a pat of a fl...

On My Playlist- Powerslave (Flight 666 version)

Image
If you have been reading my posts this week, you will be acquaint with the current happening that includes a visit to Prince of Wales Museum yesterday. I forgot to mention in my last post that the prime factor that lead to a trip there is their Egyptian Mummy exhibition which is on till March '13. The Mummies on display includes one of Nespheranub, a priest in ancient Egypt. One word here- Do visit it, the whole exhibition is a great experience (especially if you ever wanted to be an Archaeologist)!  Due to the reason mentioned above, I was all in 'Egyptian mythology' mood after coming back home. The only song which kept coming into my mind whole day was "Powerslave" by Iron Maiden. And to be true, I kept listening to the Flight 666 version of their's on repeat the entire evening! Well, this song is about Osiris; how he defeated death after his brother killed him and came to be known as The God of Death and Afterlife. What I undoubtedly love ...

One year down and still on!

Image
So it was my birthday last Sunday (11/11/2012) and I'm updating about it today, after a week to be exact! I'm no longer employing my procrastination as a reason, just lack of some motivation. You know how these vacations are; you have time and that's why you tend to procrastinate, and the problem with working days is; you don't have time still you want to write! Now back to the birthday update thing, this birthday of mine wasn't exactly my best birthday ever but at the same time it didn't turn out to be the worst. No nothing bad happened, despite of that I didn't feel the 'happy-happy' Birthday spirit this time around. Everyone was joyous that day, tonnes of wishes for the day pouring in at every moment, yet I felt that the day wasn't an exception, just like a normal Sunday day to be precise. As this time around my birthday happened to be on a Sunday, I tried to turn the weekend into a 'Birthday weekend' by starting doing things that a...

On my To-do: Eating many bowls of ice-cream simultaneously!

Image
Hahahahaha! Okay, this advertisement makes me break out in a laughter. I have no clue how, but all I know is, I too wanna do this! I know you must be thinking that 'this girl is crazy' but I seriously want to eat that many bowls of ice-cream simultaneously. Of course if I can sport that 'Ravan' headgear, while eating that many bowls of ice-cream, it will be an added bonus! Anyways, this has become a to-do on my list now, so all I'm waiting for is the moment when this will materialize (and by that I mean the day when my Mom will make a few more tubs of ice-cream than she ordinarily makes, so that I can divide them into several bowls and tick off this to-do from my list). People say, 'everything happens in its own time'. Hence, I need to get done with my exams with my exams first, which are ending this weekend (yeppiii!!!). As of now I'm worried about my I.T. exam tomorrow. I need to get up early for it, so gotta go now. Till next, take care...

So this is what I do when I bunk!

Image
Lately I have become lazy, too lazy to even bother about anything except eating and sleeping. Barely having any energy left within thyself these days, I wonder what is draining me out, studies? Hell no, I seldom touch my notebooks after college hours. And due to this constantly low levels of energy, I find myself cutting back a lot of things! Maybe my unending to-read list is to be blamed for it this time; first Such A Long Journey by Rohinton Mistry, then Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri and now The Krishna Key by Ashwin Sanghvi, a book received as a part of Blogadda book review program (for which I need to post a review in the time-frame of 7days!). So all I can say is- my kitty is full of reading jobs which needs to be accomplished ASAP. Well, I bunked on Tuesday after such a long, long, long time! I needed it and deserved it, afterall I didn't skip any of my classes this academic year from the start. But nothing would have been possible if my best budd...

Life Lesson: Be optimistic, always!

Woah, it has been too long since I wrote! I'm super sorry about that fact, actually I was busy finishing up the book about which I talked in my last post. Updates? Okay, even after devoting a good slice of my free time into reading it, I have managed to complete only 3/4th of the book. I hope it gets done by the next week. Anyways, I have something to share, a story and it goes like this... "A milkman, deeply influenced by Gautama Buddha insisted that Buddha visit him and share his nuggets of wisdom. In lieu of this, this milkman offered to present milk to Buddha. Buddha agreed. In the evening when Buddha set out to visit the milkman, he took with a the container in which he intentionally put some mud. The milkman took the container but just as he was about to pour milk into it, he realized that the container had some impurity in it. So he cleansed it and removed all the impurities. He then Poured the milk into it and gave it to the Buddha. Upon receiving the container,...

East or West, being part of a 'Flash mob' is the best!

Image
So I didn't write anything since a really long time. No, it wasn't that I didn't had any blog-worthy stuff but the thing was I really didn't had much time on my hands left. No worries, today is friendship day and you can be assured that I won't abandon you (at least not today). Okay, first with major event #1 that happened last Saturday, on 28th July 2012; A flash mob at Giragum Chowpatty! You guys know how much I love Marine Drive and its adjoining beach Girgaum Chowpatty, so when the entire event's detail was declared I immediately signed in for it. And later on, I discovered that almost half of my class was in for it too. Hence, the entire event for us was some sort of picnic (Yeah, seriously!). In a 'Flash Mob' every participant is supposed to dance, an activity I'm not particularly good at. But, the prospect of having to dance didn't freak me out because a heck lot of must-do activities from my wish-list were on the verge of getting str...

A Ray of light and a 9-weeks Marathon training program

Image
Okay, my exams are on and I don't care a damn about it! Mainly because, I had my Maths test today and I had been practicing it since, past two weeks. Hence, I was pretty confident that it will certainly go wonderful but alas, It went horrible! And it has dampened my best spirits, ruining my day as just the night before I was bragging before a friend how easy Maths is. Although, I'll pass with kind-of nice marks I won't surpass my expectation. On the same day (actually today and yesterday) I got really nice complements on my hair (My God, I never realized I have 'this great' hair! Also, I think I ended up hurting someone unintentionally yesterday (Well, if you are reading this I'm sorry). So basically a 50-50 is going on in my life. Hey but that doesn't mean a bad and uneventful life, remember the amazing stuff I did over Holidays? Yeah, it was fun and it did recharge my batteries to prepare me to face the 'storm' again. It's just someday it ...

Change and Happiness

Image
Okay...I was just reading my good friend's blog, I chance upon the word "Happiness" which got my grey cells working towards thinking and defining "Happiness". He has a picture quote along with this article, it states that, the more you chase happiness the more it gets far from you but if you just turn your attention it come to you like a butterfly! Well, I am going to talk about a topic which is common in every person's life be it popular, shy, random dude, etc. it's change and happiness. Change and Happiness are the things which go hand-in-hand in anybody's life. Change occurs at every phase of life, The change from school-life to college-life wasn't so easy. But, the important thing when a change occurs is to be happy and willing to accept it. I have seen many people not happily accepting change and as a result, rather than enjoying the new thing they succumb to thing thinking them as a horror! Change is something which we have to adapt to a...
