If you have begun wondering about my whereabouts, I do not blame you. I have been missing for quite sometime now. The decline in frequency is not because of my falling interest in blogging (heck no, I love it!), but mostly because of the blog-o-sphere (aye, it is a legit word) becoming highly commercialized. Yes, when you are putting in efforts, you should be getting returns too; but these days, most of the bloggers write only  sponsored posts. It is a major put-off! In other news, my vacations have kicked in with full force. I have been listening to some great music and watching  binge-watching television series (Game Of Thrones, finally!). And today I am writing with the intention to share two tunes which have been constantly stuck in my head... After a long hiatus, On My Playlist is back. It has been quite sometime since I last wrote about the songs playing in my head on a repeat mode or the artists that have swooned me off my feet (even the Phantom of The Opera post was a few months back!). Currently, there are a few songs I have been listening to more often than to my all-time favorites. One of them is "Losing my Religion" by R.E.M., not the Rapid Eye Moment one, but the famous band from the 80s. I am pretty much sure now that I am growing up backwards in time; what else can explain my fascination and liking towards things from the 80s, 70s and now even from the 60s! I know, I know, I have been MIA since too long now. Well, I don't want to start a blame game, but let's just say the situation was too hectic. Finally, I am taking a break and doing things which are fun-fun, not study-fun; watching Revenge (Once Upon A Time is the next in line), snoozing as much as I can (yes, day-in day-out) and dreaming of witnessing an Opera live (Ah, this one is barely possible, I think). Talking of Opera, I've always felt a pull towards operatic vocals (you see, a reason why I subconsciously prefer bands like Iron Maiden and Deep Purple), just like how tides get pulled towards the moon on a full moon night. Looking back, I simply fail to understand how in the world could I miss two live gigs of this band when I was there both the times! The band I'm talking about is The Supersonics. I caught them live a few days ago, last Saturday to be precise, and all I could do was be all ears with my face beaming with awe. Yes, they are that good; classic rock and roll riffs married beautifully with Lynyrd Skynyrd-esque vibe is how I can describe this band. Honestly, I highly recommend you folks to check out them out. Awesome music teamed with a beautiful location (Bandra Ampitheater), what else can I ask for! Prior to The Supersonics, Bombay Bassment, an another great band performed. Their music type leans more towards hip-hop meets drums n' bass; giving rise to an eclectic sound which is indeed amazing and definitely a crowd-pleaser. Actually there is nothing on my mind except the stress for my fast-approaching boards, these days. Yes, what else can you expect from a person who isn't done preparing for finals which are just after a couple of weeks? Everything has taken a backseat, with laze being an exception. Seriously, neither I'm studying well nor doing anything productive. Each new days begins with me making ambitious plans for the day but as the day progresses, my plans sinks with it! Anyways, why should my load dampen your spirits? I'm back with What's on my Playlist and today it features " Judas Priest "! They are one of the greatest Traditional heavy metal band from the 70s. Although I don't listen to them as frequently as compared to Iron Maiden, I can never get enough of their songs once I start, especially the once that have been shared below. This band my folks, in my opinion, are one of the most perfect once; the vocals by Rob Halford are perfect and so is the music....

Finally, my preliminary exams got over today but, according to teachers and alike, this doesn't gives me a permit to chill out, instead it is just a reminder of boards lurking around like a blood-hound. Geez, all this stuff is too intense, eh? Keeping all of that aside, I'm utilizing today to take a break from all this boards humdrum. And this break comes in the form of listening to Led Zeppelin. I assume Led Zeppelin needs no introduction still, for people who aren't acquaint with rock; Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest rock band of all time and, along with Deep Purple and Black Sabbath forms the basis of the metal genre. Led Zeppelin is one of my favourite and usually after a hard or long or a really tiring day, I prefer unwinding myself by listening to them, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple and some Metallica. Today's day was a mixed-bag of emotions; at a point I was happy but at another sad (more about it in the next two paragraphs). Strange as it may sound, at the end of today's day, that is now, I don't have a clue about my feelings! All I want to do is play some classic rock tracks and drift into a deep slumber. Therefore, I'm in mood for classics rather than my usual. Well, on my playlist this week is a song called "Soldier Of Fortune" by Deep Purple. I can't particularly pin-point what I like in this song, but this one is one of my absolute favourites.  Anyways, we had a Christmas Celebration-cum-BMS fest called "Aura" (Gosh, such a pretty name!) today in college. If you have been reading my posts this week, you will be acquaint with the current happening that includes a visit to Prince of Wales Museum yesterday. I forgot to mention in my last post that the prime factor that lead to a trip there is their Egyptian Mummy exhibition which is on till March '13. The Mummies on display includes one of Nespheranub, a priest in ancient Egypt. One word here- Do visit it, the whole exhibition is a great experience (especially if you ever wanted to be an Archaeologist)!  Due to the reason mentioned above, I was all in 'Egyptian mythology' mood after coming back home. The only song which kept coming into my mind whole day was "Powerslave" by Iron Maiden. And to be true, I kept listening to the Flight 666 version of their's on repeat the entire evening! Well, I heard this song on Monday and it has been stuck in my head every since! The Unforgiven II comes from the "Reload" album, and is the sequel of the song "The Unforgiven" by Metallica (which happens to be a song from my second favourite Metallica's album "The Black"), of course. Blame it on the not-too-great reviews of Reload, I never really gave the whole album a listen. To be frank, it has been a pretty long time since I connected with a song on an emotional level and this my folks, has struck that chord. Mostly when I listen to a song it is all about the music, not about the vocals. But when along with the great music the vocals are good plus the lyrics has a deep meaning it's an added bonus, and I have to admit this song has got a perfect balance. James' vocals really shines through. The music is not too fast or heavy, and the guitar's is really mellow, hence it happens to be perfect for non-metalheads too. Anyways, I...

So it's official- I hate exams! This come from me after a really horrible Economics exam for which I studied religiously for a week. I was actually too disturbed since, Thursday because of the same. Anyways, this saga is gonna continue for a few weeks due to my exams which are getting over in next month's first week. And the most surprising thing? Um, let it remain a secret for sometime.  Okay, I love Iron Maiden. They happen to be my favourite band and I listen to them on a regular basis. There are several songs by them which I find really great but this my friends, this song 'The Rime of The Ancient Mariner' is awesome in every respect! This one has been stuck in my head from a month and hence I wanted to share this with you. Its lyrics are lovely and derived from the book "The Rime of The Ancient Mariner".  Well, I need to go now. But do tell me your views on this song... 

This song makes a grand appearance on the 'now playing' menu of my music player everyday; the beats of this song uplifts me like nothing else (okay, an ice-cream does that too). I can't trace how this one landed up in my playlist, but for a long time it was a song without any name. A few months ago my fondness for this song and a curiosity to figure out the name finally proved fruitful.  I really am in love with the beats of this song; it starts off in a slow tempo gradually picking up speed and by the time the song ends the tempo is at its top. Plus, the lyrics of this song blew away my mind! "The Day That Never Comes" though belongs to the metal genre, has some sentiments and allows us a sneak-peak in the lives of the soldiers who protect us while being deprived of all the pleasures of life themselves.  And yes, this was the song that was being played on a repeat mode on my music player yesterday whilst I was on my way to college for my results; ...
