Days, as they passes by...

This week has passed rather quickly! With the admission thingy and the whole running-back-and-forth (because of the admission process of course) I haven't been getting sufficient time for updating my blog. Anyways, after a long gap, 'Random things from my mind' is back. Basically, because I figured out that it might turn out the best way to get back onto writing posts.  A lot has happened in the past two weeks, literally, a lot ! I won a Lumia 520 phone, Judas Priest's British steel album, attended a bunch of blogger's meets, gave too many tests (one more to go and then I'll be freeee!!!), travelled many times to SoBo (to buy college application forms), ate in an Irani Cafe (yay! one thing off my list), and so much more. I've arranged the photos below in the sequence of their occurrence, enjoy! Blogger's meet no.1 at Leela, Andheri (E) Blogger's meet no.2 at Chitrakoot Ground, Andheri (W) A cloudy sky, shot from Station's Sk...

V-day poem? Maybe!

So today is V-day; I'm not one of those who believe in it, and that you can conclude if you have read this post , and this post of mine. Nevertheless, I don't prefer spoiling mood of love-birds. Hence, a Happy Valentine's Day to all you folks. Also, after a long spell of lack of creativity, I finally wrote this poem titled:  "Dream turned Reality" On a cheery spring day, he saw her across the stream, laying nearby the bay, she was deep into a dream. Her visage embraced a frown, and that made the beauty look sad, hence, to see that frown up-side down, was the only wish he had. All of sudden an apple fell on her head, and with it she was awaken. Hurriedly she wrapped up her camp-bed, although she looked shaken. When she commenced to leave, he ran across to get near her, she noticed him and stared in a dis-believe, as everything to her seemed a blur. He heard a shout; "Wake up"! with it he was back in his r...

Guidelines for a better 2013

Image
It has been quite a long time since I wrote anything sensible. Now-a-days my post usually describe "What-I-did". This time, unlike 2011, I didn't do a wrap up post for the year 2012 because of two reasons- First, I was sick last week and second, everything is already documented here by the way of blog-posts, so I felt no need to write an another post describing my 2012. But this doesn't mean I'm not grateful for the lovely year; 2012 happens to be among the best years of my life (well, you can certainly figure out by the stuff I did last year!). Today is the first day of new year 2013 and rather than reviving the glorious 2012, I want to remind myself of a few guidelines that helped me enjoy the past year completely: #1. Day-dream and make realistic plans   Unless you dream of something, you won't think of making that thing happen! But again, dreaming of unrealistic things will get you nowhere. To be frank, I day-dreamed of being a pat of a fl...

One year down and still on!

Image
So it was my birthday last Sunday (11/11/2012) and I'm updating about it today, after a week to be exact! I'm no longer employing my procrastination as a reason, just lack of some motivation. You know how these vacations are; you have time and that's why you tend to procrastinate, and the problem with working days is; you don't have time still you want to write! Now back to the birthday update thing, this birthday of mine wasn't exactly my best birthday ever but at the same time it didn't turn out to be the worst. No nothing bad happened, despite of that I didn't feel the 'happy-happy' Birthday spirit this time around. Everyone was joyous that day, tonnes of wishes for the day pouring in at every moment, yet I felt that the day wasn't an exception, just like a normal Sunday day to be precise. As this time around my birthday happened to be on a Sunday, I tried to turn the weekend into a 'Birthday weekend' by starting doing things that a...

Is someone moving next door?

Image
I have quiet a few things that I have been meaning to blog about since days but call it due to my habit of procrastinating stuff, it still hasn't made any appearance on this blog yet. Finally, I'm writing a blogpost on a thing I did last week (Sigh, procrastination is deadly I tell you!). Anyways, I baked out these perfect chocolate cookies last week. It materialized only because my Mom prepared some home-made unsalted butter (The butter the supermarkets in my area stocks is salted and making cookies with it results in salty cookies). I was a bit hesitant at first, after seeing the amount of sugar and butter that would go in but after a small debate with thyself, I started making them. Well, it took a few hours to see the end result which happened to be super-pleasing; as soon as they came out of the oven, they were being appreciated by everyone in my house. I guess I bored you enough with the background info, so now a bit about the cookies: Crispy, Crunchy and Chocolate-y! I...

On my To-do: Eating many bowls of ice-cream simultaneously!

Image
Hahahahaha! Okay, this advertisement makes me break out in a laughter. I have no clue how, but all I know is, I too wanna do this! I know you must be thinking that 'this girl is crazy' but I seriously want to eat that many bowls of ice-cream simultaneously. Of course if I can sport that 'Ravan' headgear, while eating that many bowls of ice-cream, it will be an added bonus! Anyways, this has become a to-do on my list now, so all I'm waiting for is the moment when this will materialize (and by that I mean the day when my Mom will make a few more tubs of ice-cream than she ordinarily makes, so that I can divide them into several bowls and tick off this to-do from my list). People say, 'everything happens in its own time'. Hence, I need to get done with my exams with my exams first, which are ending this weekend (yeppiii!!!). As of now I'm worried about my I.T. exam tomorrow. I need to get up early for it, so gotta go now. Till next, take care...

East or West, being part of a 'Flash mob' is the best!

Image
So I didn't write anything since a really long time. No, it wasn't that I didn't had any blog-worthy stuff but the thing was I really didn't had much time on my hands left. No worries, today is friendship day and you can be assured that I won't abandon you (at least not today). Okay, first with major event #1 that happened last Saturday, on 28th July 2012; A flash mob at Giragum Chowpatty! You guys know how much I love Marine Drive and its adjoining beach Girgaum Chowpatty, so when the entire event's detail was declared I immediately signed in for it. And later on, I discovered that almost half of my class was in for it too. Hence, the entire event for us was some sort of picnic (Yeah, seriously!). In a 'Flash Mob' every participant is supposed to dance, an activity I'm not particularly good at. But, the prospect of having to dance didn't freak me out because a heck lot of must-do activities from my wish-list were on the verge of getting str...

Look up when you need inspiration to go on

My drained soul and stressed muscles defines this tiring week (I braved somehow) for me. Yeah, college commenced on Wednesday and along with it, it brought the daily grind and train travelling during the peak hours. Aw! At this point of time I just want to crash on my bed and do nothing (I seriously mean doing nothing ). How strange is it; when the vacations are on I rant and whine about them way too much. And chalk up down-right outrageous plans to shoo away the boredom. But when the college begins, I crave for a few hours of stillness. Yeah, they are true when they say "Perfection is a myth"; we keep thinking life will turn up to be perfect when this particular goal is met but then all of sudden another matter disturbs the equilibrium of life and you are left amid wondering how things went awry. Oh man! I'm dead tired, can't go on anymore.  By the way, what I absolutely love about this season is the beautiful sky composed by clouds of spectacular patterns. ...

Its been too long...

I generally don't write poems, but today after reading one on a friend's blog I felt terribly inspired. Hence, I wrote this one: Its been too long, That I forgot your face, The one which was with me in every race. Its been too long, That I forgot the weather, The one in which we sang together. Its been too long, That I forgot your ways, The one which used to brighten up my days. Its been too long, That people say I should forget you, The one who filled my life with myriad hues. Well, as this is my first (or second, if you count the poem I scribbled on a blank page during my English lecture in sheer boredom). It would be awesome if you, after reading these verses, get into a critic-mode and point out all the flaws. Thank You.

Cinnamon rolls or sugar rolls, What's there in a name?

Image
And......to banish the vacation blues, I embarked onto making 'Cinnamon Rolls' yesterday. The whole prospect was looming inside my head since, almost a week. So, I just sprang up from my seat and decided "I have to do this". You know the most amusing part of the entire thing? I started making cinnamon rolls only to discover later that there wasn't any cinnamon powder left in the pantry! But I had to fill the rolls with something so, I stuffed them with brown sugar only ! And viola, I got cinnamon rolls without cinnamon which technically should be called 'Sugar Rolls'. I wasn't sure how well the rolls would turn up when I put them in the oven but once they started rising, I knew those rolls are going to be awesome and yes, they were amazingly delicious. These can be called perfect for Easter by shaping the dough into bunnies. By the way, A happy Easter to all you guys. Below is my recipe for Cinnamon rolls, oops should I say 'Sugar Rolls'? A...

V-day: A small message to the masses

Image
It's the Valentine's Day today, just another reason for people to celebrate! Okay, I'm not criticizing it, not at all. But I'm criticizing the hype people have made out of it, can this day be left as a day meant for celebrating Love and companionship rather than going over-the-board just to show-off? Isn't the day meant for people to take pride in their 'in a relationship' status? Nobody wants to be left isolated on this day, watching other couples rejoice, but does that means forcing yourselves into a relationship? Yeah, the previous question I asked may sound bizarre but it's a truth. Many people today, just because they don't want to be left out on this day force themselves into a relationship; how kiddish and insane is that! Previously, I have written these two posts which confines itself within the boundaries of love and plays around with this very topic: Shakespeare and Love at first sight and The most exploited word "Love" . In b...

A Ray of light and a 9-weeks Marathon training program

Image
Okay, my exams are on and I don't care a damn about it! Mainly because, I had my Maths test today and I had been practicing it since, past two weeks. Hence, I was pretty confident that it will certainly go wonderful but alas, It went horrible! And it has dampened my best spirits, ruining my day as just the night before I was bragging before a friend how easy Maths is. Although, I'll pass with kind-of nice marks I won't surpass my expectation. On the same day (actually today and yesterday) I got really nice complements on my hair (My God, I never realized I have 'this great' hair! Also, I think I ended up hurting someone unintentionally yesterday (Well, if you are reading this I'm sorry). So basically a 50-50 is going on in my life. Hey but that doesn't mean a bad and uneventful life, remember the amazing stuff I did over Holidays? Yeah, it was fun and it did recharge my batteries to prepare me to face the 'storm' again. It's just someday it ...

Just a sweet gesture

Splitscreen: A Love Story from James W Griffiths on Vimeo . Beautifully edited video, ain't it? I was just doing some mindless browsing and I stumbled upon this one. What struck me most about this video is how the common life of people living across continents, is depicted within a matter of barely 2 minutes! Although, this one is created with a "Love Story" perspective, I really appreciate the imagination which came up with this concept which is simply mind-blowing and fantastic. As they say "There is an extraordinary behind every ordinary", who could have thought that the monotonous life of two people can be portrayed in such a fabulous way? Well, I want to go on bragging about the thoughtful simplicity of this video. But, it's already too late and I should be better off to sleep (I have already done a lot of damage to my sleeping...

On my Playlist- Bharey naina, Colors golden petal awards 2011 and some quick confessions

Presenting before you, the world's first onstage water act! Thought many of you who aren't having any knowledge of the language 'Hindi' may find it difficult to interpret the lyrics of the song, the performance is worth watching. The dancers are oozing grace and poise in this act which makes this one a sure winner in my book.  I got a glimpse of this act when the Television Channel was advertising about the Award Show (which includes this act) and by sheer luck when I switched on the Television set next day this act was on, it left me in awe! I had been eager to share with you guys this one since, 1st January but didn't had the motivation to. But all I can say is, I'm hooked onto this one (even the song which is from the movie Ra.one). Hope you have a good watch and do give me some feedback regarding this. Also, on 4th January I went back to my School to collect my Passing Certificate. Meeting friends who once meant a lot to you back at a certain time...

My first Cake!

Image
As I mentioned in my post yesterday, I made a cake! Well, I won't say making "a cake" was a "cake-walk" for me because it was the first time I tried my hands at cooking or baking. Although, the cake tasted wonderful taking into consideration that a first-timer made it, even my Dad who don't like cakes ate two slices! I sweated out in kitchen for two-hours just to make the cake-batter. At a certain point, when the dry ingredients were to be mixed with the wet ingredients, I messed up but, thank goodness the cake turned out to be fluffy and dense. I'm a vegan, hence I had to research a lot to find an eggless cake recipe worth making. Have a look the pictures of the cake below and the recipe too (Don't worry, my blog isn't going to turn into a Baking Blog)..... I was pretty tensed before baking, whether the cake would rise? Woah! I was jumping with joy at the sight of my cake done. Well the cake cracked at the bottom as I inserted t...
