A Saturday well spent at Philips Brew Camp

Image
Hanging out with pals in likes of Mocha or Cafe Coffee Day, I always found myself stuck with the coffee section in the menu, particularly because even though I am a passionate foodie I have no knowledge beyond the famous cappuccinos and easy-to-get instant varieties. But I knew this would change the moment I came across the invitation for a Coffee tasting session to be hosted by Kalyan Karmakar (I have been an ardent follower of his blog since past two years, so yeah, I was super excited at this prospect).... The first thing on the agenda was a coffee quiz which introduced me to the a bunch of coffee facts, one of which is that the most expensive coffee bean is the one eaten and excreted by Sumatran Cats (yikes!). Later after learning coffee 101 from Kalyan Karmakar, the attending bloggers were sorted into groups based on a question that interrogated how they drink coffee, which intended to reveal their food personality. I chose an option which hinted that I am interested in gourme...

The Canola Event...

"Health is wealth"; it's a proverb everyone must have proclaimed once at least in their lifetime. Food is one of the most essential factor towards maintaining good health, of course. As a foodie and a novice cook, I'm one of those skeptic people who are prodding and questioning each and every ingredient that goes into the food. And why wouldn't I? "Good food makes a good man", they say and I believe. I guess, this holds true for most. We want freshest organic produce, locally sourced ingredients, etc. But I reckon do we even think which oil should be used to cook the food in? Because it too plays an integral role! The kind of fat that goes in one's body impacts the body immensely. I bet that at the end of the day no one wants to battle issues like hypertension, cardiovascular diseases and alike. This is where canola oil comes into the picture, one of the most healthiest oil; it is low in fats of saturated nature and almost devoid of other bad chole...

Days, as they passes by...

This week has passed rather quickly! With the admission thingy and the whole running-back-and-forth (because of the admission process of course) I haven't been getting sufficient time for updating my blog. Anyways, after a long gap, 'Random things from my mind' is back. Basically, because I figured out that it might turn out the best way to get back onto writing posts.  A lot has happened in the past two weeks, literally, a lot ! I won a Lumia 520 phone, Judas Priest's British steel album, attended a bunch of blogger's meets, gave too many tests (one more to go and then I'll be freeee!!!), travelled many times to SoBo (to buy college application forms), ate in an Irani Cafe (yay! one thing off my list), and so much more. I've arranged the photos below in the sequence of their occurrence, enjoy! Blogger's meet no.1 at Leela, Andheri (E) Blogger's meet no.2 at Chitrakoot Ground, Andheri (W) A cloudy sky, shot from Station's Sk...

Eye-candy ahoy!

So, the day before yesterday I happened to be at a Blogger's meet organized by Indiblogger at the Times Of India building. The central theme of this meet was women's safety in this city; Mumbai. Although I have a lot to share with you guys in that regard, I guess you'll have to wait for a day or two because even thought my exams got over recently I still have an entrance to prepare for and that is keeping me busy these days! Anyways, as the meet was conducted in a heritage structure (TOI's main office) located at the Fort district of Mumbai, it was a photographic delight! Of course, I love wandering in that area but getting to capture the internal architecture of a vintage structure is an amazing experience altogether. Though renovated to keep up with the changing era, it still possess that distinct old world charm. But blame it on my poor mobile camera that I couldn't snap a lot of pictures due to the dim light inside the building. Keeping the talks aside and w...

A day to remember....

Saturday happens to be my most favourite day of the week; mainly because it has got a fine balance of work and play, and also the day which proceeds it is Sunday. Everyone's idea of a perfect day varies, and in my case, it depends upon my situation and mood. Last week, due to the forthcoming Board exams, I had started to feel quite bored and fed up from the everyday monotony. All I needed was a good break, with people around! Hence, when a blogger's meet was announced, I didn't let the opportunity pass by. Meeting like minded-bloggers, singing a medley of my favourite metal and rock songs on the top of my voice, getting tonnes of pictures taken, and a lot more was what I did last Saturday. And the entire credit for my awesome Saturday goes to the one and only, Indiblogger who in association with HP and Otto Infinito, a Mediterranean restaurant, organized the HP connected music meet on Saturday, 16th February 2013. About Indimeets, one can never say; "Been there,...

An event of lifetime: Bloggers meet at Trident, BKC

Image
Alright, before I start narrating the awesomeness this day brought along; I'd love to thank IndiBlogger for organizing Stayfree Women's for change meet in association with Stayfree India and UNICEF from the bottom of my heart. Moreover, I'm already looking forward to my next meet. I read somewhere on the internet "Don't be timid or squeamish about your actions, whole life is about experimenting with new things", and the moment I learned about a Blogger's meet happening in my hometown Mumbai, I knew I must attend the event. The fact that the venue of the meet was Trident Hotel, Bandra helped my case immensely (You know my college is in Bandra itself, so I happen to be quiet acquaint with Bandra. Hence, convincing my parents wasn't a pain). The day started with a high note; a late-to-rise person, I sprang upright as soon as the alarm's ring hit my ears. Not anticipating or expecting anything extraordinary I started prepping up myself from the d...
