The day the Mumbai locals stopped

Image
It was exactly this day last week, Friday. Anticipating a quick end to the long instructional day at college, I sprung up from my seat as soon as the news of the day wrapping up early entered my ears. Later did I discover the reason; Motorman strike! You expect a normal person to panic in a situation like this, but me, I was overjoyed because this made me feel like a true Mumbaikar. The idea of witnessing and making my way  through a troublesome situation seemed a great adventure. The grave situation at Churchgate Station Coolly, I reached station and the scene hit hard my day-dream; there were hardly any trains and the trains which plied were terribly jam-packed! I was willing to spend some more time at the station and figure out the best suited plan which would help me over come the catastrophe. Alas! I was deprived of this pleasure by the group of people I sit with at college. Their rush lead me to board a bus, till Borivali, which is two stations before my...

The winner in you just got discovered!

I know it has been too long since, I wrote something sensible. This academic year is the one whom you should blame this time, not me, because even though I'm willing to write, a mountain of college-work stands tall in front of me! Yep, I'm in a good mood today, the reason being; unexpected extensions. Okay, this needs to be explained in detail now: Well, last week a project on rainwater harvesting, an assignment from Accounts and preparation of an  advertising script (along with miscellaneous homework) was bombarded on me as well as on my classmates. And we were supposed to submit all these by tomorrow i.e. this week's Friday. You guys are pretty much aware of my deadly habit of procrastination, hence, I kept putting off stuff and eventually, I realized the trouble which I had knowingly invited onto me. Thus, this week was dead tiring! It's a miracle in itself that how did I make through (Man, I just get Sunday off in a week!). Overall, I understood the importance...

Wish gone awry!

Being bought up in a protective household, I always envied my peers who got to manage home themselves when their parents would go out. Today,  I managed to convince my parents that I'm responsible enough to take care of myself and the house. Hence, I  have this very opportunity which I craved since I was a tween-ager.  The day started with a high note, and I easily managed morning house-hold chores. Evening, after returning from college, too went off smoothly. But now, I can't fell asleep! Why, you would ask? Okay, I too don't know exactly but I'm feeling something irrational. A short discussion on it with a close friend on FaceBook pointed towards me having a "phobia". Still, I don't think that its something such. Maybe due to the fact that I'm managing myself for the first time? Endless possibilities! And now after venting out my self through this post, I'm feeling a lot better and have mustered the courage to hit the hay. So folks, see ya s...

The power "you" got

Bid a good-bye to the seen, get ready to embrace a change in the scene. Though the transition ain't easy, you needn't feel dizzy. Change is the need of the hour, this is from where you must derive your power. Just stand up for truth and learn to fight for your rights, and I promise that it will make your days bright. So, I wrote this poem ages ago. I typed it in my phone one day during train commute after being awe-inspired by Satyameva Jayate's that Sunday's episode. Okay, no more stories behind this piece of work. But, do tell me how did I fare.

Book review- Zomato Restaurant Guide 2012 (Mumbai)

Image
To commence this review with, I was really bursting with excitement at the prospect of getting a chance to reviewing Zomato Restaurant guide 2012. I expected the guide to be a condensed version of Zomato's website which is by far the best one around when it comes to restaurant reviews and their relevant details. I guess my expectations were too high and I ended up being disappointed. Let get started with the pros of the guide book first: At first glance, the book looked promising enough to me with it's impressive number of pages and informative index, hence, I devote an entire hour reading each and every page of it. The guide book has listed almost all top-notch as well as well-known restaurants and cafes in the Mumbai region, arranged in alphabetic way, which makes it easy to navigate. Segregation of restaurants and cafes on the basis of mood wins an another brownie point for this guide book. It has also listed the cuisines available, address, phone numbers, approxima...

Thank God it's Sunday!

As I listen to the verses "Things are not what they used to be...." from Metallica's Fade to black, I can't stop myself from wondering how much have I changed  (and how much less I write these days)  since, I started my 12th grade. Whole life seems to be upside-down and I'm in an absolute mess! It's already a month since college began and frankly speaking, I didn't even start studying seriously! And in today's newspaper, I read that the board exams timetable is out. Man, I just can't get my thoughts sorted.  Every person needs inspiration to live, right? I guess that's what has gone missing; nothing inspires me now-a-days or to be more precise and accurate, this rut leaves me with no energy or time to enjoy stuff, leave alone drawing inspiration. I was terribly in a need to recharge my batteries. As today is Sunday, I got my much-needed day off.  Oh, I just realized I bored you! Nevertheless, I re-discovered a mantra , the one which my sch...
