Hips don't lie.............

Just a few days ago, while playing recreational badminton a friend of mine questioned me whether her hips looked big in the outfit she was wearing. A hesitant me tried to ward off that question as I didn't wanted to offend her. But, her question sprung up a serious question in my mind, a question about body image among us (girls). I won't boost and make false statements that I don't get insecure about my body. Sometimes, I too get the feeling and get insecure.

Sure, Shakira is beautiful!!
With this question in my mind I stumbled upon my answer. As a regular reader of newspaper and magazines, I know that there are certain body types (apple shape, pear shape, hourglass and so on). Now, this pear shape is the body shape in which the hips are wide as compared to the upper body and the cherry on the icing: most Indian women are pear shaped. Even I'm pear shaped and like my friends I too have spend a great time in front of mirror agonizing over my shape. But after a careful observation, I have come to a conclusion that no one except we ourselves are influenced about this thing and people care a damn about our body shape (actually they don't even have time to figure it out). So, thinking about this and make ourselves feel worthless is waste of time and energy.

A coin has two side: heads and tails and in a similar way this pear shape has a positive side too which we don't seem to know (frankly I too didn't knew about them until I read an article about it). Women with this body shape typically have an excellent lower flexibility and great lower body strength making them good with sports or movements that requires lower body coordination (this certainly wins a brownie points from me). There are many beautiful people around us having this body shape, a famous example is Shakira (now you can't deny that she is beautiful).

On a positive note guys, there is no need to be influenced by all these thing that deters you from feeling good about you and actually, feeling good is a right you ought to have. Live life to its fullest and stop getting psyched about these silly things, have a positive body image and kick start yourselves with a right attitude everyday.

So guys, do tell us about the image you have about your body and help me to spread positivity around....... :-)
