On My Playlist: Metallica - The Day That Never Comes

Image
This song makes a grand appearance on the 'now playing' menu of my music player everyday; the beats of this song uplifts me like nothing else (okay, an ice-cream does that too). I can't trace how this one landed up in my playlist, but for a long time it was a song without any name. A few months ago my fondness for this song and a curiosity to figure out the name finally proved fruitful.  I really am in love with the beats of this song; it starts off in a slow tempo gradually picking up speed and by the time the song ends the tempo is at its top. Plus, the lyrics of this song blew away my mind! "The Day That Never Comes" though belongs to the metal genre, has some sentiments and allows us a sneak-peak in the lives of the soldiers who protect us while being deprived of all the pleasures of life themselves.  And yes, this was the song that was being played on a repeat mode on my music player yesterday whilst I was on my way to college for my results; I

From heart to mind...

It has been a long, long, long time since, I wrote any stuff. And once again I put all the blame on this season- Summer! Why does this season have such ill-effects on me? On one hand, people love summer and eagerly wait for its arrival to flaunt their beach-y wear and to getaway from the city for a vacation. I expressed my irritation and hatred towards summer in a recent post . Okay I admit, the fact is; it's not only the season which is wrecking my spirits but the phase in which I'm about to enter once again- The academic year at the end of which I will have to give my board exams. And to add to the already mounting pile of the pressure that comes neatly packaged with these exams, I have the nearly crushing burden of switching to an another college. Ouch, my already sun-baked head hurts when I think about all this! Yep, I have given my boards once and am a veteran but, the intensity of these exams still freaks me out. Plus, there are many things which are different from t

Cinnamon rolls or sugar rolls, What's there in a name?

And......to banish the vacation blues, I embarked onto making 'Cinnamon Rolls' yesterday. The whole prospect was looming inside my head since, almost a week. So, I just sprang up from my seat and decided "I have to do this". You know the most amusing part of the entire thing? I started making cinnamon rolls only to discover later that there wasn't any cinnamon powder left in the pantry! But I had to fill the rolls with something so, I stuffed them with brown sugar only ! And viola, I got cinnamon rolls without cinnamon which technically should be called 'Sugar Rolls'. I wasn't sure how well the rolls would turn up when I put them in the oven but once they started rising, I knew those rolls are going to be awesome and yes, they were amazingly delicious. These can be called perfect for Easter by shaping the dough into bunnies. By the way, A happy Easter to all you guys. Below is my recipe for Cinnamon rolls, oops should I say 'Sugar Rolls'? A

Summer? I hate it!

They say, every cloud has a silver-lining, then why can't I find the door to walk out of this mess which I affectionately call 'Vacation Boredom'? Every summer these come upon me as a catastrophe and leaves me uninspired for days (or should I say till the end of its term?). Every morning I resolve to do an activity which would erase the sense of dullness that creeps onto me during holidays, but as the monotony of the day starts lurking around the corner I unconsciously give up. Here in Mumbai, as this season comes into its ripe, the sun metaphorically bakes the public with its scorching heat. Hence, there is no scope left for enjoying outdoor action. Trapped into the confines of my apartment I can't think of a better alternative to browsing mindlessly on the internet through random stuff or scan through channels on my television hoping to spot something of my preference. At these moments, even a proposal of shopping for groceries put forth by mom seems lucrative enou

One year and on....

So, it was this very day when at the last crack of bat India won the ICC Cricket World cup 2011 and at that very moment my blog was born out of my thoughts. I always enjoy reading blogs but always feared that if I start blogging what shall I write? But all apprehensions dropped as this blog finally kicked off. Initially a place where I collected my wandering thoughts, it slowly became a part of me. And now this place is an indispensable part of my life which is my platform to the world too. In the course of a year, this blog saw me evolving from a fresh out of school teenager to a bit more mature collegian who has started exploring and facing the harsh realities of life. This online journal also saw me unleashing my passion for travelling and exploring places; how I met my love, Marine Drive. How my first attempt at making a cake was. Life Unpacked made recording my experiences of life much easier. Now, I go back to the articles written in distant past and gawk, "Was I actually
